JACKIE WRIDE

About the Artist

My art explores three themes from the natural world: organic, oceanic, and cosmic. The patterns derived from these sources are both ancient and uniquely mine. In creating these patterns, I hope to reveal my deep connection with nature in an enlightened and celebrated way. One of my goals as an artist is to give the viewer of my work a perception of the world that is positive and hopeful.

By creating a multitude of forms from ceramic and glass elements, I immerse the viewer into a world of my own making that is both captivating and joyous. I obsessively work small and large, intricate elements into a harmony of color and form. My temporary, spontaneous installations are combination of my ceramic sculptures, mosaics, glass fusings, gold luster and objects found in the environment of the installation. The circular shapes represent the cyclic nature of life, and the fact that we are all connected, not only to each other as humans but also to the earth, nature, and the universe. My intention is not to make the world more magical, but to remind people how magical the world already is.
