The 1906 Collection
Functional Fine Art Collection for 1906 at Longwood Gardens
The artist’s goal was to create a body of functional fine art that visually connects with the floating foliage and vibrant blooms of the Waterlily Court at Longwood Gardens. Jackie designed and created this collection exclusively for the 1906 Restaurant at Longwood Gardens and represents 16 years of artistic exploration and experimentation in ceramic sculpture and functional art creation. Through extensive experimentation, Jackie has continued to push the structural and visual possibilities of stoneware and porcelain construction. All pieces are hand-built, made individually, no cast porcelain molds used and not thrown on a wheel. Elements are produced through the artist’s unique layering, sculpting, carving, and shaping techniques. Each element created has its own unique pattern that connects to Longwood Garden’s ecological surroundings.
